blinkbox snaps up children’s TV shows for Christmas

blinkbox has added a raft of children’s TV programmes following deals with eOne, Aardman, Lionsgate and Cookie Jar.

The subscription-free streaming service has snapped up rights to Peppa Pig (eOne), Shaun the Sheep (Aardman), The Adventures of Paddington Bear, Johnny Test (Cookie Jar) and Poppy Cat (Lionsgate).

The content spree is the latest of many for blinkbox which, in the last six months alone, added over 7,000 titles to its catalogue, making it the destination for the latest movies and TV without subscription.

As with all blinkbox titles, the shows can be accessed on a rapidly growing number of devices, including games consoles (Xbox 360 and PS3), tablets and Smart devices (TVs, Blu-Ray players, set top boxes) as well as PCs and Macs.

Sales of Twilight saga movies up 500 per cent on blinkbox

Hype surrounding the final installment of the Twilight saga movies has given a welcome boost to blinkbox – sparking a 500% increase in sales of the popular series.

The premiere of Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2, which has seen stars Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson walking the red carpet ahead of its release on Friday, has generated huge interest in other parts of the saga.

Ben Ayers from blinkbox comments: “The incredible buzz around the latest film seems to have tempted a whole new audience to see what all the fuss is about. The hype has reached Bond-esque levels and we expect the demand to continue once people watch the epic conclusion and tell their friends about it.”

Breaking Dawn Part 2 is the final film in the Twilight series which is based on four hit novels by American writer Stephanie Meyer. The film sees the love story of Bella Swan (Stewart), vampire Edward Cullen (Pattinson) and werewolf Jacob Black (Lautner) come to an end when Bella and Edward are forced to protect their child from an ancient vampire coven.

All previous Twilight films are available to rent on blinkbox for £2.49.
