Veep The Complete First Season will be available to own and watch instantly through blinkbox from Monday 1 October 2012.
blinkbox will be the only place in the UK for HBO comedy fans to buy and own all eight episodes of The Thick Of It writer Armando Iannucci’s hilarious US comedy series.
Starring the EMMY award-winning Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Curb Your Enthusiasm, Seinfeld) as Vice President Selina Meyer (Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series), VEEP is an up close and politically (in)correct look at the daily successes and disappointments of being second in command. VEEP follows former Senator Meyer and her staff as they attempt to make their mark without getting tripped up in the day-to-day political games that define Washington.
Meyer’s inner circle includes her Chief of Staff Amy (Anna Chlumsky), long time press spokesperson Mike McClintock (Matt Walsh), right hand and body man Gary (Tony Hale) and secretary Sue (Sufe Bradshaw) – all of whom often do battle with ambitious interloper Dan Egan (Reid Scott) and smug White House liaison Jonah (Tim Simons).
The eye-watering comedy is scripted but shot in an improvisational style giving VEEP authenticity without being specifically biographical about what it is like to hold the least effectual post in the most powerful office in the world.
The tie-up is the latest in a series of deals between HBO and blinkbox, with the service the only place in the UK to offer the second seasons of Game of Thrones ahead of other online services and the DVD and Blu-ray releases.
Already known as the place to watch the latest releases without subscription, blinkbox offers a broad range of premium HBO series including all four seasons of smash hit supernatural drama True Blood and the acclaimed blockbuster mini-series Band of Brothers and The Pacific. As with all blinkbox titles, these HBO shows can be viewed on PC, Mac, Smart devices (TV, Blu-Ray players, Set Top boxes), iPad, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
